Mid Atlantic Climbers Spring Adopt a Crag Update

Usually this is the time of the year Mid Atlantic Climbers announces our full Spring Adopt a Crag schedule and invites volunteers to sign up. Over the past few months, our leadership team has worked with local land managers and partners to plan six events to help conserve climbing resources and maintain good relationships with area parks and landowners. However, we will be postponing the Spring Adopt a Crags through at least the end of April due to COVID-19 and the guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and state governments.

We are monitoring this evolving situation and will make determinations about rescheduling or cancelling events based on conversations with land managers and future directives from the federal, state, and local governments. Please note that Sugarloaf Mountain is currently closed, and we will be working with park staff as they assess the length of the closure.  We ask that all local climbers respect this closure in deference to the park, and for the health and safety of yourself and others.

Please follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, and check our website for the latest information on MAC events and for alerts on additional park closures and access changes.

Thank you for your support and enthusiasm for volunteering. We urge the local climbing community to follow CDC and state government guidance at this time, and hope you all stay safe and healthy.
