When you think about DC climbing, images of the steep and difficult climbs over the Potomac River are the first things that come to mind. We all love climbing, hiking, and picnicking at Great Falls, now is our chance to give back to this precious and historical resource. This is one of the areas longest running and largest adopt-a-crag events, and we need volunteers to help reduce the impact such large numbers of visitors have on this park each year.
Schedule:
Date: September 27th
Registration: 8:30am
Project work: 9am-12:30pm
Cook-out to be provided by Solid Rock Climbers for Christ after: 1pm
Where To Meet/How To Get There:
From I-495, take exit 44 Route 193, also named Georgetown Pike west. Follow Georgetown Pike about 4.5 miles and take a right at the traffic light into the park onto Old Dominion Drive. Drive straight about a mile to the entrance station. Tell the ranger you are there for the Adopt-a-Crag to enter the park for free. Head straight towards the visitors center and park in the first parking lot on the right (directly behind the visitors center). Look for the MAC registration close to the Visitors Center.
