Located in the Catoctin Mountains, Cunningham Falls State Park is one of Maryland’s most popular state parks and is home to a handful of boulders that are great for budding outdoor climbers as well as a few test pieces for the more experienced. Join Mid Atlantic Climbers on May 10, 2025 (rain date May 18) for an invasive species removal event that will help protect the habitat in this great park! We are looking for up to 20 volunteers.
Reserve your spot today!
Schedule:
- Registration: 8:45 am

- Raffle: 12 pm (including giveaways from Rhino Skin!)
Where To Meet/How To Get There:
The official meeting location will be determined closer to the event and emailed to registrants a few days prior. It will likely be within a few minutes of the Cunningham Falls parking lot at the Cliff Trail trailhead on William Houck Dr.
What To Bring:
- Closed toed shoes or boots
- Long sleeves and pants (we will likely be removing plants with thorns!)

What We’ll be Doing:
We will be pulling invasive plants out and then plant / plug the holes we make with native transplants (trees, shrubs, wildflowers), or seed stock. Tools such as loppers, pruners, shovels will be provided. Our target plants are Japanese barberry, Japanese wineberry, Multiflora rose (the thorny ones), Japanese honeysuckle, and garlic mustard (not thorny).
